06.02 | Replacing Equipment in a Project

A case may arise where the Revit file is not present in the catalog or only as a 2D .dwg.

To solve this problem, we have the “replace” command that allows you to correct an incorrect or missing Revit file by replacing it with a good existing 3D model from another manufacturer.

In this situation, I start by switching the project to the plan view.

I open the eCatalog and insert a model with a 2D file, but the software asks to enter the utilities because the database was created incorrectly.

Because this model will not be visible in the program, it will be numbered incorrectly and will not be visible in 3D.

So, I have to run the “replace” command and select the incorrect unit.

I have three options.

The first option involves a replacement of the entire product.

This entails selecting a new manufacturer and product, thereby necessitating the replacement of the 3D model.

Simultaneously, various data components such as descriptions, electrical parameters, and dimensions must also be updated.

Alternatively, I can opt for a more targeted approach by replacing only the geometry.

In doing so, the product data remains intact, but the 3D model undergoes a substitution.

While the manufacturer remains the same, descriptive information undergoes modification.

In the third case, I can only replace the information.

The process involves substituting the existing data, including descriptions, electrical parameters, and dimensions.
